Email & calendar assistant

Liminal connects to Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 with one-click OAuth from the desktop app. It reads and triages mail, drafts replies that match how you actually write, schedules meetings across your calendar, and nothing is sent until you approve it.

What it can do in your inbox

  • Search and summarize threads. “what did the accountant ask for last week?”
  • Draft replies in your voice: the agent infers your tone and formatting from the thread, not from a rigid template.
  • Compose rich HTML email with a live preview in the desktop compose dock before anything goes out.
  • Send on your behalf: every send is approval-gated, so you see the final message first.
  • Works with Gmail (Google Workspace) and Outlook (Microsoft 365) through the same agent.

Calendar, without the back-and-forth

The same connectors cover Google Calendar and Microsoft 365 calendars: list what's coming, find free slots, create and update events, and cross-reference email context (“book the call the client suggested in their last message”). Because Liminal is a full agent rather than a single-purpose plugin, one request can span both: read the thread, propose times, draft the reply, create the event.

One-click setup, no API keys to paste

Open the Integrations hub in the Liminal desktop app, choose Google or Microsoft, and approve the OAuth screen. The connector registers the email and calendar tools automatically. Disconnecting removes them. The agent itself runs on your machine, and write actions (sending mail, creating events) go through the standard approval gate.

Why local matters for email

Your inbox is one of the most sensitive datasets you own. Liminal's orchestration runs on your computer: session traces and memory live on your disk, and model calls go to the provider you configure, not to a vendor's hosted agent platform. Combined with per-action approvals, you get automation without handing your mailbox to a black box.

Sample prompts that work well

Good prompts name the outcome, not every click: "Summarize unread threads from clients, draft replies for the urgent ones, and list what can wait until Friday." or "Find meetings next week that conflict with school pickup and propose two reschedule options."

Because Liminal chains email and calendar in one loop, you avoid copy-pasting between Gmail, ChatGPT, and Google Calendar. The agent reads the thread, checks free slots, and shows you the draft before send.

How this compares to Superhuman or Copilot in Outlook

Superhuman and Microsoft Copilot focus on speed inside one mailbox. Liminal is a full agent: the same session can move from inbox to spreadsheet to Slack without switching products. You also choose the model and keep session logs on disk.

FAQ

Common questions

Can it send email without me noticing?

No. Sends are approval-gated by default. The agent shows you the recipient, subject, and body, and waits for your confirmation.

Does it work with both Gmail and Outlook?

Yes. Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 connectors are both built in, including calendars. You can connect both at once.

Will replies sound like me?

The agent reads the thread and infers tone, sign-off, and formatting from context. You can also set a persona and preferences it remembers across sessions.

Can Liminal replace an AI email assistant SaaS?

If you want one assistant that also handles Xero, documents, and code on the same machine, yes. Liminal is not a mobile-only inbox app; it is a desktop agent with OAuth to your real accounts.

Is my email content sent to Vireon?

Community Edition runs the harness locally. Message bodies are processed by the LLM provider you configure (e.g. OpenRouter). Use a local model via Ollama if you need mail content to stay on your network.
